Apply for the Deb Beard Memorial STEM Scholarship

 

In honor of Deb Beard and her tireless commitment to education, science, and community involvement, we are offering the following scholarship.

Scholarship Description

This annual scholarship will be awarded to one student from a Regional Science Consortium (RSC) member school district. The award will be given to a student with a passion for either science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM). The applicant must also be a high school senior with plans to pursue a higher education degree within a STEM field. The recipient will be selected based on academics, extracurricular involvement, career goals, and a short essay. The recipient will receive a one-time award of $250 and will be featured on the RSC website.

Scholarship Details

  • Total scholarship amount: $250
  • Supports student pursuing STEM-related degrees in higher education
  • Includes an featured biography on the RSC website
  • RSC staff will determine final selection
  • Applications will not be accepted after June 1, 2025

Eligibility Criteria

  • High school seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Student at an RSC member school
  • Planning to enroll in a STEM related major at a four-year college or university
  • Must complete an application with an essay
  • Must provide a high school transcript (unofficial)

Essay – 300-400 words

Write a 300–400-word essay answering one of the following questions.

  • How will pursuing a career in a STEM field allow you to benefit our society?
  • Describe what led you to want to pursue a career in a STEM field?
