Summer Camp Frequently Asked Questions

 

What are camp dates and times?

The School of Sustainability and Experiential Learning (SSEL) consists of four weeks, each with a different theme. Your child can attend one, two, three, or all four weeks. There is a discount for attending all four weeks.

  1.     Sustainability: July 9-13
  2.     Science of Food: July 21-25
  3.     Science of Fashion: Aug 4-8
  4.     Science of Art: Aug 11-15

Unless otherwise notified, camp day runs Monday through Friday. Drop off is from 7:30-8:30 AM and pickup is from 2:30-4:30 PM.

 

What to wear, what to bring?

  •       The SSEL camp is a day camp. There is no overnight stay. Students need not bring an overnight bag or sleepwear.
  •       Students should dress appropriately for being both indoors and outdoors, including closed-toe shoes for walking/hiking outdoors, several layers of clothing to accommodate temperature changes, and a hat and sunglasses for sunny days.
  •       Campers should bring insect repellent and sunscreen.
  •       Labeled medications and instructions.
  •       Students should bring a towel and swimsuit.
  •       Campers will be responsible for providing their own packed lunch every day.

 

What to do during bad weather?

The SSEL will hold activities rain or shine. If the weather is too severe for the outdoors, indoor “rain day” activities have been planned for.

 

What if my child needs medication during the camp day?

If your student requires medication to be administered during the day, it must be sent with them in a plastic bag. We must also receive a note including the type of prescription, dose, and time needed. A camp staff member will keep a record of medications administered.

 

What are the age requirements for my child to attend the camp?

This camp is for middle school students in grades 5-8.

 

How much does it cost?

Campers that attend an RSC member school are eligible for a discount. Additionally, campers that attend all four weeks are eligible for a discount. See the price breakdown below:
