Weed Warriors

WW Mission/Who we are:

Weed Warriors is a volunteer program that helps protect Presque Isle State Park by focusing on the identification, removal and monitoring of invasive plant species.

Who Can Join:

Currently, WW’s meet every Tuesday from 10am to 11:30am. Anyone can join our group by emailing Jen Salem, Coordinator, at trecgarden@hotmail.com . 

Our Projects:

WW focuses on the manual removal of several invasive plant species, including Oriental Bittersweet, Garlic Mustard, Mugwort, Bindweed, Purple Loosestrife, Flowering Rush and many others. We work throughout the Park to target areas of special concern, including wetlands, medians, beach locations and hiking trails.

The WW program also provides an opportunity to learn about native plants and wildlife, resource management and conservation ecology.
